Wacky Races!
Saturday 31st March 2012
What is the Wacky Races Charity Day?!
A list of items to buy, collect or photograph is given to each team. The teams must travel around, wherever they wish to go and using whichever methods they choose, collecting, buying and photographing as many items from the list as they can. Each item is awarded a certain number of points. The team with the most points at the end of the day, wins!
What sort of things will be on the list?
The list could include things such as "take a photo of the team standing outside a pub called The King's Head", or "purchase an item that costs exactly 23p - keep the receipt!" (please note that these will not be items on the list on the day, but there may be similar ones!).
How do we receive the list of items?
The list of items will be emailed to all teams at 9am in the morning on Saturday 31st March. Therefore at least one team member must have access to emails that morning.
Where will this happen?
Teams can start the race from anywhere they like, and they can travel anywhere they like during the day too. However, the team must end the race by 7pm at the latest, and arrive with all their 'evidence', at Barnston Village Hall, Chelmsford Road, Gt Dunmow, Essex CM6 1LR. There will be penalty points for each minute the team arrives late.
What do we need to bring?
It is a good idea for at least one member of the team to either have a computer and printer available in the morning, or a phone with access to emails on, so that the list of items can be taken with you! Each team must also have at least one digital camera or similar with them, as some items on the list will require photographic evidence. If the team could also bring a wire or something that will enable the photos to be transferred to a computer in the evening that would also be useful!
How many members are in each team?
There can be a maximum of 6 members in each team.
Does the team need to travel together all day?
No, the team can go their separate ways during the day. However please note that some items on the list will require photographic evidence of the whole team being at the same place at the same time, so you may not want to spend the whole day apart.
How much does it cost to enter?
The cost is £5 per person, and this covers entry into both the Wacky Races and the Quiz.
Do we have to stay in same teams for quiz?
No. You may form various separate teams with other people for the quiz if you like, just make it clear to us when you enter!
What are the prizes?
As well as having the general glory of being the best team, small prizes will be awarded to the teams with:
The most points
Best fancy dress
Do we have to wear fancy dress?
It is not compulsory for the team to be in fancy dress, but it may make it more fun on the day and the team that does spend the day in the best fancy dress will be awarded a prize! Fancy dress costumes do not have to be related to the TV cartoon, they can be anything!
How do we enter?
Entry forms are available from Teri or Matt. Alternatively, just let us know your team name, number of members, and an email address that is accessible for the team on the day.
Is there anywhere to stay nearby?
Please see the 'Hotels for Charity Event' section under the 'London Marathon!' tab above.
